A college cheerleader who posed naked for Playboy has quit the squad after being told to choose between cheering or modelling.

Taylor Corley, 18, posed under the alias Taylor Stone in the magazine’s November 2010 issue but Mississippi State University had said it would not take action against as long as she did not identify herself as one of its students.

But just two weeks after MSU implied Ms Corley would remain on the cheerleading squad, she has now announced she is leaving college for a career in reality TV.

‘I am no longer cheering for (Mississippi) State,’ she announced on a Memphis radio show this week.

‘Me and my coaches decided that it was either Mississippi State cheerleading or my Playboy career. Pretty much the decision was made for me that I was no longer going to be cheering for them.’

And while her notoriety is at its highest, the Atlanta teenager is quitting college to pursue a television career, Fox News reports.

‘It’s called Girl Swagg, it’s a pilot for MTV and VH1,’ she explained. ‘It follows around four girls and I’m one of them.’

A freshman student at the university, Ms Corley had competed with the cheerleading squad at the UCA College National Championships in December.

She had posed for the Playboy photos before enrolling at MSU and was already part of the cheer team by the time the photographs were published.

Though the school had last month it would not be taking action against Ms Corley, the fact that her classmates and cheerleading coaches had recognised her in the Playboy snaps looks likely to have forced an ultimatum.

‘It was definitely a shock to everyone,’ Ms Corley admitted. ‘I don’t think they were expecting something like that to come from a cheerleader, especially in such a conservative state.

‘It was kind of a joke at first and then it actually ended up turning into something. It was a little nerve-wracking at first because I’ve never shown my boobs in front of the camera before, but it was pretty fun!’
