Valkyrae breaks down and opens up about the most heartbreaking six months she faced at the start of her career
Over the years, Rae has become a YouTube sensation and one of the most popular female streamers. Not to mention, after establishing such a huge fanbase, most fans also refer to as the ‘Queen of YouTube’. However, it was not an easy decision for Rae to just dedicate her life to video games and streaming.
I lost my dad last year..
We knew he was going to pass but it was still difficult. Can’t imagine how it must feel to lose somebody you love so suddenly without warning.
So sorry for your loss..biggest life reminder to love and appreciate your loved ones as much as possible❤️

In the interview, Rae opened up that she was having a hard time figuring out if she want to make a living out of streaming. After convincing herself to try streaming as a full-time occupation for a living, Rae suddenly had to face the most heartbreaking situation of her life.
At the start of her career, Rae’s father was battling cancer, and she could take care of him thanks to streaming. After his health got worse, Valkyrae took care of her dad for 6 months and continued streaming at the same time. During those hard times, streaming helped Rae to take care of her dad and make a living simultaneously.
Rae remarked, ” Luckily, with streaming, I was able to go home and take care of him and stream and like work from home. While I was able to watch over him for the last six months of his life. It was really traumatic seeing what my dad went through in person like firsthand.”
Rae also mentioned that she and her family knew from the start that her dad will not win the battle against cancer; therefore, she was glad that streaming helped her spend the last 6 months close to her father. However, the most heartbreaking incident Rae opened up about was that her dad would often forget about his own situation and about her during those toughest times.
She said, “It was insane, like seeing someone you love just forgets you.” Indeed, it must be hard for Rae to maintain a balance between streaming and taking care of her dad at the start of her career.
Why Rae openly share such a tragic incident easily with no hesitation on stream?
Without a doubt, these were the most upsetting moments for Rae. However, she also opened up that she is not hesitant to share these personal kinds of stuff with her viewers. She believes she might help someone in need through her platform to be strong and never lose hope.
Rae said, ” That was a terrible six months. I was just glad that he wasn’t in pain anymore. Really glad that I was there to help him. She further added, ” Because of the stuff I have been through in my life. I openly talk about it on stream. I think, me, talking about this kind of stuff helps a lot of people that are watching.”

At last, she said, ” I do think that sharing the way that I view things helps. You know people see things in a more positive light as well. You know, like you are not alone.” Indeed, it’s a splendid way to motivate others and let them know that the hardest times pass away with time as well.
