Saie Glossybounce Hydrating Lip Oil Review: The GLAMOUR team might have just discovered their favour

August 2024 · 5 minute read

We can't believe we're saying this but we might have just found our favourite lip product of right now. Since the Saie Glossybounce Hydrating Lip Oil landed on the GLAMOUR beauty desk, there hasn't been much chatter about any other lip stuff around the office.

This formula is not like your regular-degular-schmegular lip oils. In fact, it has all the feels of a good lip oil, but a finish of the glossiest, shiniest and plumpy-est lip gloss, and the skincare benefits of a good lip balm – a triple-threat.

The lightweight formula boast a rich concoction of jojoba oil and hyaluronic acid, which hydrate and heal dry and chapped lips, while plumping them and giving them XXL shine, and the presence of shea butter works to soften, smooth, and soothe the skin on the lips.

Now this butter-lips on a tube comes in six shades (including a clear one) and sit at £18. It truly sounds like a product that is here to fulfil all our lips' desires, so the GLAMOUR team decided to put them to the test and here are their honest thoughts…

I am a sucker for a good, smooth and hydrating lip oil. I had high expectation from the Saie Glossybounce as I'm a huge fan of the brand. They just seem to always get it right. Firstly lets talk about the wand on this. The doe foot, is perfectly shaped and sized to contour lips in one swipe, making application a breeze and the brush feels nice and fluffy to the touch. It truly elevates the experience and makes me want to apply it over and over again.

I went for the shade ‘Kiss’ which swatches clear on the lips – exactly how I like, heavy on the liner, but glossy, sheeny, natural finish. Although labelled a lip oil, it goes on like a really soft, and hydrating gloss. What caught me off guard was the plumpness. I haven't seen my pout really pout like this before.

The formula is thic-thic, so she glides on like a dream, giving me the same suppleness, shine and glossy lock, you'd get from a good plumping lip gloss, all this without feeling sticky and gloopy and without leaving lips feel dry after a while. I usually wouldn't recommend people spending over £15 on a lip oil, but I think this one might just be worth every penny.

Shade: Push

Full disclosure, I tried the Saie foundation and was immediately obsessed, so my expectations for this lip oil were high. Self described as a hydrating lip oil, Saie's glossy bounce glided on easily and the texture was the ultimate balance between hydrating yet light, sans any gloopy stickiness.

I tried the rich brown shade Push, which when on translated into a perfect understated 90s brown tone, not overpowering but still very much a moment. The glossy finish it gave was diabolically good and had me feeling like a hot girl through and through. I will definitely be putting this in my regular rotation for evenings out when I want a high impact gloss.

Shade: Play

Lip oils have been a bit of a staple in my bag over the summer months, I love how nourishing and juicy they make my lips feel, with the gloss and colour pay off that you just can't get with a balm. So, I had high expectations for the Saie Glossybounce lip oil. I tried the shade Play, a Barbie-approved hot pink colour.

The colour comes up very sheer when you apply, which I really liked because it gave me a subtle injection of life to my lips. Consistency-wise, I did feel like it was more like a lip gloss than a lip oil, which distracted me from the promised hydrating effect.

Shade: Kiss

I first got sent the Saie Glossybounce Hydrating Lip Oil almost a month ago, and when I say it hasn't left my side for a second ever since, you best believe me. I've been wearing the shade Kiss, a gorgeous cool-toned pink that gives my lips the shine of a gloss and the hydration of a balm. I've worn it over matte lipstick on nights out, and as the only product on my face during makeup-free days. It's so lightweight, not at *all* sticky and the applicator is like a soft, squishy cushion. Go get one.

Shade: Play

As far as lip oils go, I've never met one I didn't like, and Saie's latest formula is no exception. The colour Play intrigued me most, as it's brighter than where I'd usually steer towards for an everyday look, but it gave my lips a 'bitten' wash of pink that I've quickly become obsessed with. As for wear; it wasn't sticky but it also wasn't greasy - it felt suitably hydrating, as though my favourite lip balm had married my favourite gloss - though I would say I did find myself re-applying frequently. That might be my dry lips telling me the obvious, though.
