The Burning Girls is the latest book to television adaptation that is set to have us glued to our screens.
Based on the 2021 novel of the same name by C.J. Tudor, the six-episode British series, which Charles Martin directs, will star Samantha Morton as Reverend Jack Brooks, who, alongside her daughter Flo, played by Lockwood & Co actress Ruby Stokes, move to a small, remote village following a personal tragedy, only to discover that their new residence isn't exactly what it seems...
In fact, the sleepy village of Chapel Croft harbours some dark secrets about religion and conspiracies, with the mother/daughter duo quickly learning that five hundred years earlier, two young girls were burned at the stake alongside a number of Protestant martyrs. Things get even more spine-chilling as Jack and Flo discover that three decades before their arrival, two teenage girls disappeared without a trace before the local vicar hung himself.
Of course, over the years, this led to many conspiracies by locals. However, Jack is adamant about getting to the bottom of the strange occurrences in the village, but it comes at the expense of putting herself and her 15-year-old daughter in grave danger.

Joining Samantha and Ruby in the cast are Rupert Graves, Conrad Khan, Janie Dee, David Dawson, Paul Bradley and Jane Lapotaire.
